Description
Manual handling of objects may seem like simple tasks. However, these simple and repetitive movements can pose challenges to your health. Injuries caused by improper manual handling is one of the most commonly occurring occupational diseases in Singapore.

In this introductory program to Safety at Workplace, WSH Series – Manual Handling at Work, you will learn about the importance of weight estimation before manual handling of heavy objects and how to work safely, avoiding work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

By the end of this program, you will be equipped with:
  1. Fundamental knowledge of correct manual lifting techniques;
  2. A basic understanding of how to reduce ergonomic risks at the workplace.

Alvin Teo is a Senior Lecturer-Mentor in Institute of Technical Education, Singapore. He is a certified Work-At-Height trainer and conducts Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) related courses at ITE College East.

Currently as a Mentor, he provides guidance to lectuers, promoting a culture of pedagogic excellence within the department. He played a critical role in recognising and nurturing students’ potential and their lifelong learning needs.
